Two severely injured in Tuesday morning Pine Grove crash

Two people were injured in a Tuesday morning crash on I-39 in Pine Grove.

Emergency crews were dispatched to  I-39 in southern Portage Co. at 9:26 a.m. on Oct. 10 when a caller reported a single-vehicle collision about one-tenth of a mile north of the Waushara Co. line.

When deputies arrived, they discovered the passenger car with two occupants had lost control, left the roadway, and overturned several times.

The driver, a 21-year-old woman from Green Bay, was ejected from the car. She and her passenger, a 29-year-old man from Chicago, both suffered severe injuries and were transported by helicopter to a Marshfield trauma center, according to the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and no further details are currently being released.

Portage County Ambulance, Bancroft Fire Department and EMR, Plover Fire Department, Medivac-Wausau, and Life Link medical helicopters all responded to the scene.
