Taste of Rosholt brings in big numbers to support local children

By Patrick Lynn

The sixth annual Taste of Rosholt was a rousing success, according to the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County.

The Club hosted the event on Dec. 7 at the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt. More than 130 area residents attended the Taste of Rosholt, which offered hors d’oeuvres, desserts, beer and wine from local businesses and vendors.

The fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club – Rosholt Extension raised over $33,000. This year, the funds will go towards snacks and meals for Club members. The Club originally only served snacks after school to Rosholt children but has plans to expand its meal program to provide snacks and dinner.

The night featured a variety of raffles and games for guests. One guest won a three-night vacation stay on Pickeral Lake, donated by Candlewood Vacations. The event’s basket raffle, full of various gift certificates, jewelry, and other great items, reached a record high of money raised. Guests also donated money towards wishes on the Club’s wishing tree that contained items and experiences the Rosholt Club needed.

for the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County – Rosholt Extension. This will help the organization continue to provide youth in the Rosholt community with a place to go after school and during the summer to learn, stay active, and create lifelong friendships. This year, funds raised from Taste of Rosholt will go to provide snacks and dinner to Rosholt Club members.

Sponsors of the event were Bushmans’ Inc., Rosholt Record, and Community First Bank, which raised about $19,000.
