Shirley Ann Buss (née Shalewski), 84

Shirley Ann Buss (née Shalewski), age 84, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2023, in Brookfield, Wis.

She was born in Wittenberg, Wis. on December 5, 1938, the daughter of John Paul and Anna (née Cychosz) Shalewski.

Shirley grew up on a farm and attended Wittenberg High School. In her early years, she moved to Milwaukee for a time where she began her career in retail.

Shirley was quite the artist and had an amazing ability to create beautiful floral arrangements, designed hand‐crafted greeting cards, hand-painted decorative eggs, enjoyed baking Christmas cookies, sewing, puzzles, interior decorating, played online games with family and friends and dancing to polkas.

While visiting home, Shirley attended a church picnic and met Richard who was playing in a polka band. They married on March 23, 1957 at that very same church (St. Joseph’s Church in Galloway). That same year, Shirley and Richard moved to Green Bay and started their family.

Shirley and her family moved back to Rosholt where she owned and managed the family restaurant (Buss’ Drive‐in) and managed several floral shops in the years to follow. Shirley enjoyed traveling with Richard, including a trip to Hawaii with the polka band, as well as traveling with family to Germany, Italy, the Philippines, Morocco, Spain, return trips to Hawaii and more.

She and Richard retired to Florida where they spent many wonderful years enjoying their dream home before moving back to Wisconsin. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and grandma, raising six children, and doting on her grandchildren and great‐grandchildren.

Shirley will be dearly missed, always loved, and never forgotten. She is survived by her children: Richard (Diana) Buss, Ronny (Ester) Buss, Renee (Larry) Walkowski, Paul (Laura) Buss, Sally (Mark) Garski; Sandy (Jeffrey) Frasch; grandchildren, Christina (Paul) Tilque, Matthew Buss, Corey Buss, Leyte Dittmer, Marvin (Alam) Buss, Heather (Dalton) Roberts, Brandon (Samantha) Walkowski, Melissa (Huron) Fletcher, Travis Garski, Shane Garski, Ashley Garski, Amanda (Lance) Meyer, Devan (Emily) Frasch; and great‐grandchildren, Lillie and Parker Tilque, Jocelyn and William Buss, Alexa Dittmer, Solomon and Delilah Buss, Jessica, Ilycia, and Scott Dulian, Earlen Colt Roberts, Shawn Grace, Dawson, Madisen and Savannah Fletcher, and Liam and Ethan Meyer.
