Shawn Michael Witucki, 52

Shawn Michael Witucki, of Plover, passed away peacefully at his home on January 23, 2024, at the age of 52.

Shawn was born February 19, 1971 in Stevens Point, the son of the late Edward and Betty (née Thanig) Witucki. As a small boy, Shawn loved to build things and was quite inquisitive; often asking questions and following it up with, “But, why?” While his desire to understand his world would eventually take him places, as a young boy, it caused a bit more mischief when he was found sticking a pizza cutter into an electric socket and throwing a handheld mixer into the wash machine. These kinds of experiments gained him the nickname, “George,” after the beloved book character, Curious George.

Shawn also enjoyed playing at his grandparents’ farm and discovered a love of classic cars; a passion that would stick with him his entire life. Throughout his childhood, Shawn attended Athens area schools and graduated from Athens High School in 1990.

After high school, Shawn continued in the workforce; as a teenager in school, he worked at McDonald’s. He then went on to work for County Market for several years before dedicating 16 years to Wausau Homes. When he left Wausau Homes, it was due to him achieving a degree from Northcentral Technical College in automotive body shop repair. Even though he obtained his degree later in life, Shawn had early experience with cars. In high school, he restored a late model sports car, even painting it black.

While Shawn is fondly remembered as a stubborn wild-child, he is more so remembered as a loyal and loving brother, son, and uncle. His family was the most important thing to him and he displayed this through his kind and caring actions; always willing to help and never afraid to say, “I love you!” When Shawn’s younger sister, Donna, passed away, she left behind a 15 year-old son, Anthony “Tony” Witucki. Shawn didn’t hesitate to take Tony in as his own; continuing to be a strong male role model for Tony. Shawn was also close with his other two nephews, Mitch and Brett Feck. In fact, Shawn was close to his entire family and loved spending time with them. Shawn once wrote to his brother, “You are here not by chance, but by God’s choosing.” Words that beautifully reflect Shawn’s role within the family; the big-hearted, kind, and giving brother.

While Shawn never lost his love of classic cars into adulthood as he had a bronze-orange Cadillac that he loved. Furthermore, he expanded his classic taste to music, genuinely enjoying ‘50’s rock and roll, especially the King of Rock ‘n Roll himself, Elvis Presley. He also enjoyed listening to Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, and AC/DC. This love of music took Shawn places, too, as he would travel for different concerts; especially with his best friend, Brian. He also enjoyed movies, history, and football. Above all, Shawn lived life to the fullest. He was always excited about something and loved making others laugh. He will forever be missed.

Shawn is survived by his siblings, Troy (Linda) Witucki of Edgar, Janine (Dave) Kulpinski of Mosinee, and Lori (Pat) Feck of Merrill; and his nephews, Tony Witucki, Mitch Feck, and Brett Feck.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Betty; a sister, Donna Witucki; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Shuda Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2024. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.shudafuneral.com.
