One dead following Wednesday morning crash

The Wisconsin State Patrol says one woman is dead following a Wednesday morning crash just outside of Stevens Point.

Kelly Elizabeth Springer, 43 of Stevens Point, died after a single-vehicle collision on North Second St.

According to a news release from the State Patrol, the collision occurred at about 8:45 a.m. on the southbound ramp of I-39.

Springer was driving southbound in a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan when she struck the median and a bridge pillar. She was trapped inside the vehicle and unresponsive when emergency crews arrived. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Stevens Point Police Department, Stevens Point and Plover fire departments, Portage Co. Traffic Incident Management Team, and Chris’ Towing all responded to the scene.
