Maynard Tetzloff, 93

Maynard Tetzloff, 93, of Stevens Point, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his side on Sunday, January 28, 2024. 

Maynard was born June 19, 1930 in Lanark, Wis. to Frank and Mary (née Dulske) Tetzloff and was the youngest of 11 children. He attended Almond High School, graduating in 1948.  

On May 7, 1952, he married Rose Marie (née Sankey) Tetzloff at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. They celebrated 70 wonderful years together.  

He proudly served in the U.S. Army from November 1951 to November 1953 as a corporal. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After serving in the military, he worked at Eagle Heating, Hardware Mutual (now Sentry Insurance) and retired from UWSP in 1991.  

Maynard was privileged to participate in the Dream Flight for Veterans in August  2023. 

He was known for his famous pig roasts, a large garden (with no weeds), and making maple syrup. He enjoyed snowmobiling, cruising in his convertible, polka music, camping and bingo.  Maynard and Rose enjoyed traveling to Florida to escape the cold Wisconsin winters. 

In addition to being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1170 and the American Legion Post 6.

He is survived by two daughters: Deb Kurszewski and Diane Tetzloff (Jeff Krupka); two sons: Dennis (Faye) Tetzloff and Dan (Meivis) Tetzloff; Nine grandchildren: Paul (Ashley) Kurszewski, Chad Kurszewski, Amy (Andy) Wavrunek, Isaac (Katie) Tetzloff, Aaron (Allie) Tetzloff, Joshua Tetzloff, Ryan Tetzloff, Mariah (Charlmers) Oscar and Sadie (Dietric) DeJager; eleven great-grandchildren: Avery, Emersyn and Delaney Wavrunek, Elias, Bennett and Rayna Kurszewski, Emmett and Theo Tetzloff, and Kendall, Raegan and Wade Tetzloff.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Rose Tetzloff, his parents Frank and Mary (Dulske) Tetzloff, Son-in-law, Andy Kurszewski,  Six brothers, Sylvester, Henry, Raymond, Rufus, Edwin and Lloyd and 4 sisters, Selma, Florence, Marge, Isabelle.  

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Maynard will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1401 Clark St., Stevens Point. Rev. Jeffrey Hennes will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
