Gerald “Jerry” A. Bluma, 93

Gerald “Jerry” A. Bluma, of Stevens Point, passed away October 25, 2023, at the Marshfield Medical Center – River Region in Stevens Point, at the age of 93.

Jerry was born July 17, 1930, in Milwaukee to Nick and Martha (née Groshek) Bluma. He attended local schools while also working with his siblings on his parents farm in Custer.

In October of 1952, Jerry bravely joined the U.S. Army and proudly served our country until September of 1954, when he was honorably discharged. A year later, on October 22, 1955, he married his sweetheart, Florence Mansavage at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover.

The two moved to Menomonie Falls, Wis., where Jerry was a supervisor for a small engine company. After retirement, the two returned to Stevens Point where he used his handyman skills working part time for a landscaping company, impressing the owner with his strong work ethic.

Jerry had a love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter – deer, pheasants, and ducks. He also enjoyed sports, playing baseball for the Custer All-Stars team in the 1950s. His love of sports was a lifelong passion, participating in league golf, bowling, and horseshoes right up to his 93rd birthday. Jerry was also a talented musician, playing guitar and singing. On occasion, he would be invited to sing country music songs live on Saturday mornings for WSPT radio in Stevens Point.

Jerry is survived by his sisters-in-law, Olive Gosh and Connie Brunke, and many nieces and nephews.
