Edwin “Eddie” H. Brummund, 87

Edwin “Eddie” H. Brummund, from the town of Eau Pleine, Wis., passed away on June 6, 2023, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Stevens Point, just two weeks shy of his 88th birthday.

Eddie was born on June 20, 1935, in Ludington, Wis., the son of Edward and Rose Marie (née Stevens) Brummund. As a young man, he met Beverly Gillett. They were married, had two children, and later divorced. Then he met Jacqueline Bourget and the two were united in marriage on June 5, 1971, and had two children. The day before Eddie’s passing, they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.

Eddie worked for American Motors as a warehouse supervisor in Minneapolis, Minn., for many years. Then was a warehouse supervisor for COMB Company. Later, he drove trucks for HO Wolding before his retirement. Apart from his fulltime job, he delivered newspapers and telephone books; he especially enjoyed the walking routes.

Eddie will be lovingly remembered as one of the most kind and gentle souls. He had a friendly demeanor that would make those around him smile and even on bad days, was talented at spreading the joy from his heart to others. Additionally, he had a strong love for the Lord Jesus Christ which led him to prioritize helping those around him; he was a very hardworking, giving man. Eddie did foster care for his family.

He also enjoyed gardening and spent many hours in his garden, doing landscaping, and canning vegetables. He loved his Sunday Polkas and was well known for always having a handkerchief in his pocket. Even in his elder years, he found enjoyment in fishing and camping. In his most recent years he looked forward to the annual Brummund camping get together, the United Special Sportsman’s Alliance Summerfest (which was another camping event), and the annual Brummund/Stevens family reunion.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; four children, Keith (Cyndi) Brummund, Kirt (Connie) Brummund, Greg (Peggy) Brummund, and Tonya Hodge; his grandchildren, Scott, Chad, Jesse, Matt, Alli, Sarah, Rachel, Kelly, Kyle, Casey, Dillon, Taliyah, Gregory, Raymond, Ariel, Desiah, Zachary; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his siblings; Arlene Schmidt, Lila Brummund, Janet (Virgil) Comstock, Susie (Cy) Paulson, and Stevie (Peggy) Brummond; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Emma; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice (Kenny) Turner; a son-in-law, Glen Hodge; and a grandson, Seth Larson.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care received from Ascension at Home, Promedica Palliative Care, and Heartland Hospice. We would also like to thank Amy Groshek, Mary Flees, and Fawn Klemm for their guidance of the home care team.

For those wishing to express their sympathies, the family kindly suggests memorials be designated to New Hope Community Church in Junction City or the United Special Sportsman Alliance.
