Edith “Edie” Violet (née Parks) Pozorski, 92

Edith “Edie” Violet (née Parks) Pozorski, of Stevens Point, passed peacefully with her family by her side, on February 16, 2024, at River View Lodge Assisted Living, at the age of 92.

Edie was born on January 18, 1932, at the homestead of her parents, Orville and Ethel Parks in Plover. Edie attended McDill Grade School and P.J. Jacobs High School, graduating in 1949. While in high school, Edie worked for Hardware Mutual Insurance Company.

On October 20, 1951, Edie married the love of her life, Marvin Pozorski. Together, they built a beautiful life and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Richard Pozorski and Robert Pozorski.

Edie was a devoted stay-at-home mother and homemaker for many years, then worked as a receptionist at the House of Thomas Hair Salon for 17 years.

Their lives were again blessed with the arrival of three grandchildren, whom she treated as her own children. She was a daily presence in their lives, whether that meant attending or driving them to an event, having them over for a sleep-over or simply stopping in to check on them. More joy came into her life with seven great granddaughters. Edie instilled many wonderful traditions in her family including the importance of a family dinner together, Christmas Eve bingo, Friday night fish fry, and big bear hugs.

Edie was proud to have lived in the village of Whiting for more than 87 years. Edie happily volunteered her time and worked at the Whiting polling office. She and Marv would sit and relax together in their driveway, watching their neighborhood grow and develop. Many friends and family would stop to join them, as there was always an extra chair and cold beverage waiting. Edie enjoyed her times with Marv and getting in the car to “take a ride” to one of the local casinos or to visit friends and family.

Over the years, she and Marv were avid travelers and several memorable trips were made with friends. She enjoyed visiting Las Vegas in December to see all the Christmas decorations, shop and take in a show. Much laughter and fun took place on days when Edie picked up her girlfriends and went to lunch. She had many treasured friendships (near and far) over the years and was never further than a phone call away.

Upon entering River View Lodge Assisted Living in 2017, Edie again made many new friends. She received exceptional care in a home-like setting for seven years and was always very appreciative of the love and support given to her by their staff. A special thank you to them and the staff of Interim Hospice during her final months.

Edie is survived by her two sons, Richard (Deanna) Pozorski, Stevens Point, and Robert Pozorski, LaCrosse, Wis.; her brother, Randall (Lanell) Parks, Daphne, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hintz and Judy Pozorski; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Heather (Nathan) Pezewski, Stevens Point, (Casey Jahn/Matthew Watters, Abigail and Avery), Holly (Craig) Busse, Stevens Point, (Grace Edyth and Emma); and Heath Pozorski, Appleton, Wis. (Ava and Shayn).

Edie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Pozorski; parents, Orville and Ethel Parks; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence (Elmer) Feltz and Elizabeth (Floyd) Folz; in-laws, John and Josephine Pozorski, Kenneth Pozorski, Leonard Hintz, Raymond (Dolores) Pozorski, and Arlene (Donald) Lee.

A celebration of Edie’s life will be held at Shuda Funeral Home, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. and service at 2-3 p.m.
