WisDOT to hold public involvement meeting on I-39/U.S. 10 interchange

Metro Wire Staff

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements for the following areas in the City of Stevens Point and Town of Hull:

· I-39 northbound and southbound ramp intersections
· US 10 bridge over I-39
· US 10/WIS 66 corridor between Country Club Drive and Maple Bluff Road

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22, from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Pinery Room of the Portage County Public Library, 1001 Main St.

WisDOT officials will be on hand to explain the purpose and need for the project, and to obtain input on the proposed improvements.

Proposed improvements include replacing the deck and approaches on the bridge at I-39, widening the sidewalk and addressing safety concerns, extending the U.S. 10 westbound auxiliary lane through the Maple Bluff Road intersection, shifting the left turn lanes on U.S. 10 and WIS 66 to provide visibility for left-turning vehicles, and installing a traffic signal head over each lane at each intersection.

An improvement project is currently scheduled to begin in spring 2022.

The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible. Deaf or hard of hearing persons needing assistance should contact the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System by dialing 711.

To allow time to arrange for special accommodations needed to participate, please contact Zach Gruling at (715) 421-8319 no later than three working days prior to the meeting.
