Taste of the Town returns Aug. 10

By Patrick Lynn

The annual Taste of the Town returns to Pfiffner Pioneer Park on August 10.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin will host the 15th annual fundraising event, beginning at 4:30 p.m., with wine and beer tastings and food samples from 20 local establishments.

New food vendors this year include Samoeun’s Happy Wok, Watchmen’s Gone, and Dilly Dahl Deli.

A silent auction and champagne raffle will offer prizes from Lee Ayers Jewelers, Furniture and Appliance Mart, Holiday Inn, The Green Bay Packers, and more. A nontraditional ring toss will offer participants a chance to win beer, wine, or liquor, for $20 a turn—and a chance to win the grand prize, a Thomas Dailing Designs Pendant.

Live music will be provided by The Northwoodsmen.

Tickets are $45 in advance at www.bigimpact.org. Tickets can also be purchased at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office, 1000 Division St., Bria Bella & Co., 925 Main St., Ski’s Meat Market, 5370 Hwy. 10, and Lee Ayers Jewelers, 1044 Main St.

A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $55.

Proceeds benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations in Portage County. The organization provides positive, one-to-one mentoring relationships for young people, and still has 70 children in Portage Co. on a waiting list for adult matches.
