The Boys & Girls Club Plover Center is about to get a new name.
The Club location at 2401 Cedar Dr. in Plover will soon be renamed The Fritz and Julie Schierl Center.
Fritz Schierl is a longtime co-owner of Schierl Tire Center, along with brothers Tim and Bill. The family is well-known in the community for its philanthropy, and Fritz and Julie Schierl have been longtime supporters of the Club.
Now, the couple has pledged a $1 million gift to the Club’s Plover Center.
“I have seen firsthand the positive influence the Boys & Girls Club has on our community,” Fritz Schierl said in an email statement on Feb. 16. “My wife Julie and I are immensely proud to play an ongoing role in providing a safe place for children to grow and develop through positive mentorship and activities.”
According to a news release from the Club, the pledge will be paid over a series of years into an endowment fund.
In honor of the cash pledge, the village of Plover and the Club will hold a private ceremony on March 9.
