Guns N’ Hoses wrapped up its 2023 by presenting $15,000 to three local veteran groups.

Several members of the GNH committee attended the Dec. 12 Joe & Dough, a monthly veterans coffee and donut breakfast, at the Stevens Point Elks Lodge 641, 1132 Clark St., where they presented $5,000 each to the Portage County Board of Military Veterans, Ageless Aviation Dream Flights (AADF), and Never Forgotten Honor Flight.

AADF takes military veterans, primarily seniors, on a “dream flight” to thank them for their service. Since its founding in 2011, more than 3,000 veterans have taken to the skies in a series of refurbished Boeing Stearman airplanes from the 1940s. For more information, or to apply, click here.

The Portage County Board of Military Veterans is an independent organization consisting of 16 veterans groups, all united by a shared mission to support and assist veterans. Their collaborative efforts aim to provide comprehensive assistance to veterans in various aspects of their lives. For more information or assistance, contact Commander Mike Worzalla, [email protected], or call 715-347-0682

The Honor Flight sends veterans on a free, daylong trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the nation’s monuments and the memorials built in their honor. Veterans of any branch who served honorably before May 7, 1975, can apply for a seat.
