Del Monte honored by state for hiring, supporting vets

A Plover company is one of 17 across the state honored for hiring and supporting veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

Del Monte Foods has been awarded the Silver Certification by the Vets Ready Employer Initiative overseen by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The initiative encourages employers to build a support system within their workplace, hire and retain more veterans, and connect to veterans in the community and their families.

Every year the DWD recognizes businesses who have gone above and beyond for the veteran workforce. Businesses are separated into three categories – small, medium, and large – and either receive a gold or silver certification.

DWD partners with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Wisconsin Department of Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans Chamber of Commerce on the Vets Ready Employer Initiative.

To be eligible for consideration, a company must provide emotional support groups for veterans, veteran-specific employee programs for onboarding, management training, retention, on-the-job training, and apprenticeships or internships.

Del Monte is the only Portage Co. business to be honored in the program for 2023. To see the full list, click here.
