Rita Marie Wysocki, 88

Rita Marie Wysocki, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024. She was 88.

Born on Oct. 28, 1935, to Maymie Simcakoski and Felix Zielinski, Rita was the first of her seven siblings to pass. She grew up cherishing family and community, values that she carried throughout her life.

On Aug. 27, 1955, Rita married the love of her life, Donald Wysocki. The couple initially lived in Milwaukee before settling in the Stevens Point area. Their nearly 66-year marriage was marked by devotion, love, and the joy of raising eight children.

Rita’s life was centered around her family. Besides being a dedicated homemaker, she was a childcare provider for countless families over the years. Her nurturing spirit touched many lives, and her home was always filled with love and warmth. Rita’s culinary skills were legendary; her holiday meals and desserts were eagerly anticipated by family and friends. It is said that she baked thousands of pies throughout the years.

An active member of St. Peter’s Parish, Rita found joy in polka dancing at various church picnics. Her love of music and dance brought vibrancy to her life and to those around her.

Rita was known for her elegance and style, with a particular fondness for diamonds and all things that sparkled. She was also a passionate shopper, a hobby that brought her much happiness. Her family imagines her enjoying endless shopping sprees in heaven.

Rita is survived by her seven children: Richard (Pat) Wysocki, Louise Makuski, Lori (Dale) DeSmith, Raymond (Christy) Wysocki, Lois (Paul) Glodowski, Renee (Rob) Kieliszewski, and Michelle (John) Kowalski. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and six siblings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her son, Randall; and her parents.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Mary and her staff at North Crest Assisted Living for their care and support over the past decade. The staff’s dedication allowed Don and Rita to share a room and build a new home filled with love and friendships. The family also appreciates the extra care provided by Heartland Hospice during Rita’s final months.
