Plover — Lace up your sneakers and join the community for the 4th annual Lake Pacawa 5K Run, Walk, and Roll on July 26 at Lake Pacawa Park (1110 County Rd. B).

It’s the first of the two-day Celebrate Plover event.

The inclusive event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, offering a timed 5K race, a kids’ fun run, food, prizes, swag bags, and entertainment.

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or prefer a stroll, this event has something for everyone. The 5K race starts at 6 p.m., while the kids’ fun run begins at 5:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Lake Pacawa Park, with this year’s fundraising efforts to install a new 5-point harness swing to enhance the park’s inclusivity.

Registration fees vary depending on the date of signup:

  • May 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024: $35/person
  • July 1, 2024 – July 14, 2024: $45/person
  • July 15, 2024 – July 26, 2024: $45/person (no shirt/swag bag)
  • Kids Fun Run (Ages 10 and under): $20/person

If running isn’t your thing, you can still support the park by purchasing a keepsake tank top or t-shirt for $20.

For more information or to register, visit the event website here.

The mission of the Lake Pacawa 5K is to “provide an inclusive, family-friendly, community activity and to encourage physical activity as a means to better overall health for individuals of all ages and abilities.”

Karen Trzebiatowski, co-organizer of the event, said the proceeds from the race will go to maintaining the park at Lake Pacawa. The park last year held a grand opening on its $4 million all-inclusive remodel, funded by about $2 million in private donations, and $2 million in tax increment from a nearby TIF district for Lake Park Apartments.
