Margaret “Peg” Marie (née Riley) Engle, 75

Margaret “Peg” Marie (née Riley) Engle, 75, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at her home on June 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Nov. 17, 1948, in Stevens Point, Peg was the daughter of the late Ronald and Mary Ellen (Helbach) Riley. She attended the neighborhood one-room Badger School, Waupaca Grade School, and graduated from Waupaca High School in 1966. She later earned her CNA license from Mid State Technical College in Stevens Point.

On Dec. 13, 1966, Peg married her childhood sweetheart, Vernon “Vern” Engle. They raised two sons, Scott Anthony and Timothy Michael. Peg often worked outside the home to support her family, putting her husband through college and ensuring they had everything they needed.

Peg was known for her kind heart and comforting presence. She found joy in caring for her seven grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Addy. Peg is survived by her husband, Vern; her sons, Scott (Barbara) Engle and Timothy (Kimberly) Engle; her grandchildren, Ryan (Chelsea), Colton (Desirae), Kaiden, TJ, Tyler (Danielle), Nathan, and Emily; her great-granddaughter, Addy; her brother, Thomas (Kari) Riley; her sister, Jane Voelker; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronald Riley Jr.; her sister, Karen Bloedorn; an infant sister, Mary Ellen; and several in-laws.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish, 2151 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Rev. Steven Brice will officiate. Friends and family may gather at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point, on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Highway 54 in Lanark.

The family suggests donations in Peg’s honor to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, 13195 West Hampton Ave., Butler, Wis. 53007.
