Barbara Koehmstedt, 86

Barbara Koehmstedt, 86, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on July 7, 1937, at the family farm in Denham, Minnesota, to Hugo and Geneva Johnson. She had two older siblings, Kenneth and Marjorie. At age 7, her family moved to Askov, Minnesota. After graduating from high school in Askov, Barbara moved to Waukegan, Illinois, where she met Herbert Koehmstedt. They were married on February 2, 1957.

The couple remained in the Waukegan area until 1969 when they moved to Stevens Point with their three sons, Gary, Michael, and Dale, and purchased the Travelers Motel. After several years, they relocated to Ironwood, Michigan, where they bought the Twilight Motel. They stayed there until 1991 when they retired and moved back to Stevens Point.

In her retirement, Barbara enjoyed volunteering at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Geneva; her brother, Kenneth; her sister, Marjorie; and her husband, Herbert, in 2004. She is survived by her sons, Gary, Michael, and Dale; daughter-in-law, Lori; Kenneth’s surviving wife, Muriel Johnson; cousin, Sharon Docksteader; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special niece, Linnea; and many other nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Road, Plover, Wisconsin.
