Eleanore F. Jakusz, 87

Eleanore F. Jakusz, formerly Eleanore F. Goodin, of Stevens Point, died suddenly on May 15, 2024, at the age of 87 at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital.

Born February 3, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., Eleanore was the daughter of the late David and Aurelia (née Courteau) Goodin. Her family relocated to the Pittsville area during her youth, where they raised cocker spaniels. Eleanore graduated from Pittsville High School in 1955.

During her high school years, Eleanore met Lawrence T. Jakusz, and they married on July 26, 1956. The couple settled in Stevens Point and raised six children together before divorcing.

Eleanore found solace in crafting, particularly in sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed reading romance novels, solving jigsaw puzzles, and engaging in card games. Known for her sociable nature, Eleanore cherished time spent playing games with family and friends, extending her joyous personality to those around her.

Survivors include her four sons, Clifford (Julie Scutkowski), Thomas (Lori), Matthew (Jeanine), and Mark (Tom Patterson) Jakusz; her two daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Lewandowski and Laura (Greg Hietpas) Lesmeister; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents, David and Aurelia, and her sisters, Joanne Kay and Jacqueline Nelles.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Shuda Funeral Home, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until the time of service.
