Dr. Kent Douglas Hall, 86

Dr. Kent Douglas Hall, 86, a beloved professor, community leader, and avid outdoorsman, died on May 19, 2024, at River View Lodge Assisted Living in Stevens Point.

Born Aug. 3, 1937, in Versailles, Mo., Hall was a standout athlete in high school and college before embarking on a career in biology. He married Suzanne “Sue” Hall in 1962, and they had two children, Sheri (Curt) Johnson and Doug (Kathleen) Hall.

Hall dedicated his career to teaching biology at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, mentoring students, and co-owning Midwest Biologicals with his wife. He was passionate about track and field, co-founding the Stevens Point Area Running Club in 1980.

He and his wife were actively involved in various environmental organizations, including the Mead Wildlife Center, Aldo Leopold Audubon, and the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin. Their contributions led to the creation of the “Hall Nature Preserve” in Stevens Point.

Hall is survived by his children, grandchildren, siblings Mollie (Nelson) Allen, CJ (Ann) Hall, Mark Hall, and Morris (Debbie) Hall, and in-laws Marge Black and Tom (Deborah) Tinsley. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and several siblings.

A visitation will be held at Shuda Funeral Chapel on Sunday, May 26, from 12 to 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Aldo Leopold Audubon Society Fund through the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin.
