Timothy “Tim” A. Epstein, 62

Timothy “Tim” A. Epstein, 62, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, after battling early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

Tim was born on August 22, 1961, in Stevens Point, the son of the late Donald and Anita (née Mayek) Epstein. He spent his youth enjoying outdoor activities such as horseback riding, golf, skiing, and helping on the family’s hobby farm. Tim graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High in 1979.

He married Lori Chojnacki on September 15, 1984, and they shared 40 years of married life. They had two children, Nathan, born on June 20, 1992, and Nicole, born on March 5, 1997. Tim was a devoted husband and loving father who enjoyed taking his family camping and traveling to Nicole’s cheer competitions. He also loved spending time in the family pool.

Tim began working for Copp’s in high school and dedicated 41 years to the company, retiring in August 2019 due to early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Despite the illness, his life was filled with joy, especially with the birth of his first grandchild, Avery Allison DeGroot, in November 2023.

A handyman at heart, Tim helped build his and Lori’s home, completed in 1994, where he enjoyed entertaining friends and family in his basement oasis. He loved rock music, playing pool, throwing darts, and spoiling his dogs, Toby and Addie. Tim also enjoyed the Packers, watching golf, listening to rock and country music, gardening, and making homemade jerky and wine.

Tim is survived by his wife, Lori; his children, Nathan (Haley) Epstein and Nicole (Uriah) DeGroot; his granddaughter, Avery DeGroot; his in-laws, Jerry and Doreen Chojnacki; his brother- and sister-in-law, Perry and Jackie Chojnacki; his sister-in-law, Mary King; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Anita Epstein; his maternal grandmother, Anna Mayek; his brother-in-law, Kevin Chojnacki; and his cherished dog, Toby.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, Aspirus Hospice, and NorthCrest for their care, as well as to Doreen Chojnacki for her extra support.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Shuda Plover Funeral Home, 2400 Plover Road, Plover. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
