Stevens Point — Roadwork for the 2024 Forest Creek Subdivision Project will begin on Monday, July 1, according to a news release from the city.

Construction will begin on Walter St. between Wildwood Dr. and Joe St., and on Joe St. between Walter and Regent streets. Pavement removal operations will start on the first day, resulting in the closure of these corridors to through traffic. Utility installation is scheduled to begin on July 8.

Local traffic will be maintained as much as possible during the construction period, but there will be times when access is not feasible. After the underground utility work is completed, the affected corridors will reopen to all traffic over gravel until the paving process is finished.

The project should be done in late October.

The approval of the Forest Creek Subdivision marks the city’s push to address housing needs in Stevens Point.
