Portage Co. honors two longtime fire chiefs

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday honored two longtime fire chiefs who retired recently.

Tony Kontol stepped down as the chief of the Rudolph Volunteer Fire Department on June 8. Konkol led the department for 40 years.

Dan Folan retired on June 3 from the Almond Fire Department. He spent 42 of his 48 years there as chief.

Both were honored during the June 26 Portage Co. Public Safety Committee meeting. Sheriff Mike Lukas called the men “legends.
