Historical Society to host annual art show

The 156-year-old Rising Star Mill will host its annual Art Show and Sale on Memorial Day weekend, showcasing the work of over 25 local artisans.

The event, organized by Ashley Megal and other volunteers, will take place on Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The historic mill, owned and operated by the Portage County Historical Society (PCHS), is located on County Q in Nelsonville.

Attendees can browse a wide array of unique and original artwork, including jewelry, ceramics, paintings, metal art, and more. New artisans this year include Ari Bault, Mark Brueggeman, Kris Crubaugh, Wayne and Kay Dombrowski, Erin Enk, Holly Fox, Emma Horton, Gina Johnson, Chloe Kreuser, Christina “UB” Munny, George Nickels, Karin Sieg, and Alexandra Sosin.

Returning artisans include Jeanne Chase, Linda Durant, Marge Krogwald, Gary Landowski, Gary LeBouton, Jim McKnight, Ashley Megal, Linda Packer, Robert Rosen, Ann Rozner, Sue Semrow, Toni Starr, Elise Thornton, Nancy Thorson, Tanya Victor, and Lori Woldt.

Admission is free, and food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Visitors can also tour the mill, enjoy the scenic views of the Tomorrow River, and participate in a raffle to support the mill’s ongoing maintenance and operations.
