Dorothy Boone, 75

Dorothy Boone, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024, at River View Lodge, surrounded by her loving family. She was 75.

Born on March 21, 1949, in the small town of Cooter, Mo., Dorothy was the daughter of Clifton and Graple (Hart) Boone. Growing up on a farm in southeast Missouri, she learned the value of hard work and the importance of family. These values would shape her life and the legacy she leaves behind.

After graduating from Cooter High School, Dorothy embarked on a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She found joy and fulfillment in caring for others, and her compassionate nature touched the lives of countless patients and their families over the years.

Outside of her work, Dorothy was a woman of many interests and passions. She had a creative spirit, expressing herself through painting and enjoying shopping trips to Goodwill. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, engaging in lively games of “654” and sharing stories and laughter.

Dorothy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devout Christian, known for her warm and welcoming nature. She had a way of making everyone feel like family, embracing them with open arms and unconditional love.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember her infectious personality, quick wit, and love of conversation. She had a gift for storytelling and a knack for making people feel heard and valued. Her unique spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Phillip and David McCracken; her daughter, Amanda McBride; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Angie (Donnie) Hinklin of Jonesboro, Ark., and Kay Betro of Stevens Point; as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Graple Boone; a daughter, Marilyn Haviland; two sisters, Linda Hoppa and Joyce Burse; and three brothers, Freddy, Larry, and Timmy Boone.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at River View Lodge and Interim Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Dorothy’s final days.

A funeral service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Shuda Plover Funeral Home, 2400 Plover Road, Plover. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Plover Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made in Dorothy’s name for use at a later time.
