Committee to consider new county logo

By Brandi Makuski

Stevens Point —The Portage County Executive/Operations Committee will review a proposed new county logo for the first time next week.

A resolution to approve the logo is on the agenda for the Committee’s July 2 meeting.

The new logo is among several minor changes announced by County Executive John Pavelski last August. It is intended to coincide with the rebuilding of the county’s website.

The current logo, which has represented the county since 1989, reflects the county’s diverse economy, emphasizing strengths in education, natural beauty, agriculture, and industry. A heart at the center signifies its central location in the state and its importance to Wisconsin.

The proposed logo is the result of collaboration between the Executive/Operations Committee and CivicPlus, according to County Board Chairman Ray Reser.

“The updated logo marks a significant step forward for Portage County,” Reser said. “It symbolizes our commitment to progress and modernity while respecting our history.”

Reser added that there are no fiscal obligations associated with the resolution. The current logo will remain in use until the new design can be implemented.

The Portage County Executive/Operations Committee will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, in Rooms 1 and 2 of the Portage County Annex, 1462 Strongs Ave. The public is welcome to attend.
