Zillman scores twice as SPASH tops D.C. Everest in conference opener

STEVENS POINT — Zachariah Zillman scored twice Tuesday as the SPASH boys soccer team opened Wisconsin Valley Conference play with a 2-1 win over D.C. Everest at Goerke Field.

Thomas Oswall and Liam Nimm each recorded an assist for the Panthers, who improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Goalkeeper Fred Juliani made seven saves for SPASH. D.C. Everest outshot the Panthers 8-4.

“It’s always nice to start the conference off with a win,” SPASH coach Bill Loss said. “We had stretches where we carried the play and other times where we were on our heels, but the boys kept battling and we never trailed in this game, which speaks to their resilience.”

SPASH returns to Goerke Field on Thursday, when the Panthers host Wisconsin Rapids at 7 p.m.
