The Stevens Point YMCA is offering a free water safety course for youth swimmers in June.
This course will cover beach, boating, and pool safety skills from June 10 to 14. For swimmers ages 3-5, classes will be 30 minutes in length; classes will run 40 minutes for swimmers ages 6-12.
Classes for both age groups begin at 11 a.m., with afternoon classes at 4:15, 5, and 5:45 p.m.
The classes are being offered for free due to a “generous donation”, according to a press release from the YMCA, but no additional information was provided.
With summer around the corner, the goal of the Y Splash Water Safety program is to educate kids on being safe in and around water.
Registration is free, open to the public, and required in advance. Call (715) 342-2980 or visit the YMCA Members Services Desk, 1000 Division St.
The YMCA also offers multi-stage group swim lessons, as well as private and semi-private lessons to preschool children, ages 3-5, and kids ages 6-13. Classes run from June 17-August 10.
