Jay-Mar of Plover is holding its annual “Wurst Cookout of the Summer” on Aug. 10

The fundraiser benefits the Portage Co. Humane Society.

Brats, hot dogs, chips, and beverages will be available for purchase at the retail store, 2130 Jay Mar Rd., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Local musical acts will perform during the event. Any local bands or vocalists interested in performing during 30-minute timeslots should contact Tony Grapsas at [email protected]. Performances are voluntary, but musicians can sell their music to attendees.

Jay-Mar is a family-owned company serving central Wisconsin since 1970. The retail store sells pet food, lawn care and a variety of giftware. Jay-Mar’s agri-supply business services area farmers with seed, fertilizer, crop protection, soil testing and more.

The company also recently announced it was donating all the dog food needed for the Stevens Point Police Department K9 Unit. The program, originally funded by Earthborn Holistic, was discontinued. Jay-Mar decided to pick up the program, feeding K9 officers Fala and Luna, at its own expense.
