Worzalla Associates Raise Over $2,000 for Special Olympics

Metro Wire Staff

Worzalla recently participated in Special Olympics Wisconsin’s Sun Run and Solar Plunge fundraiser, with a goal of raising $757.

They more than tripled their goal, raising $2,500—enough to support three Wisconsin Special Olympics athletes. The funds will help support Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes, providing sports training, leadership opportunities, and compete year-round in 19 different sports.

Worzalla associates were incentivized to contribute to the Special Olympics fundraiser through an internal prize raffle and Ice Bucket Challenge. Associates who participated in the Sun Run 5K, or gave a donation, received tickets for Worzalla’s Summer of Fun Drawing. Prizes included $50 gift cards, paid time off and the grand prize winner had their choice of camping gear, a FitBit, an Apple Watch, or a $500 gift card.

“It provided a fun wellness opportunity for our associates to come together and complete a 5K run/walk through Iverson Park,” said Brianne Petruzalek, Worzalla Vice President of Human Resources.

This fundraiser is one of Worzalla’s many community outreach efforts. Other efforts include donating books to libraries and schools, sponsoring literacy and learning events, and participating in highway cleanups. More information is available at Worzalla.com.
