Wonderful Water Run benefits North Central Conservancy Trust

WHITING – The Wonderful Water Run has once again demonstrated its commitment to the community and environmental conservation, naming the North Central Conservancy Trust (NCCT) as its beneficiary for the second consecutive year.
The fourth annual Wonderful Water Run, held Sept. 28 at Pfiffner Pioneer Park, brought more than 900 runners from across Wisconsin and nine states to downtown Stevens Point. Participants competed in a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a kids’ fun run, all organized by a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit and more than 75 volunteers. The event supports groundwater protection and celebrates the area’s abundant water resources, including the Wisconsin, Plover, and Tomorrow Rivers.
In November, the Wonderful Water Run’s board of directors presented NCCT, a local nonprofit conservation organization, with a $5,000 donation. The gift makes the Wonderful Water Run NCCT’s largest organizational donor for 2023 and 2024.
“You’re doing the work that we can’t, and that’s part of what makes this partnership so beneficial,” said Jeanna Trzebiatowski, Wonderful Water Run executive director and volunteer.
The event also provided additional opportunities for collaboration. NCCT exhibited at the pre-race packet pickup at Mid-State Technical College, and its staff, board members, and volunteers operated a water station at mile 12 of the race near NCCT’s 5-acre property north of Bukolt Park.
“NCCT is sincerely grateful for this impactful gift and for all of the support from the Wonderful Water Run board members, volunteers, and participants,” said Chris Radford, NCCT executive director. “We are excited to continue working together to support and promote community wellness and the protection of our local land and water resources for future generations.”
The Wonderful Water Run, which began in 2021, has grown rapidly in popularity. Organizers said they aim to continue promoting human and environmental health while celebrating Stevens Point’s natural resources.
