Woman dies after being struck by vehicle at Copps

A 72-year-old woman has died from injuries she sustained after being run over by a pickup truck in the Copps parking lot.

Rose Krueger, of Plover, died June 15 after being struck by a 50-year-old Stevens Point man in a 2010 Nissan Titan.

“She was struck by the pickup truck as she walked across the parking lot,” Plover Police Chief Dan Ault said. “[The driver] just didn’t see her.”

Emergency crews requested a life flight, but helicopters were unable to fly due to the weather. The woman was transported by ambulance for treatment at Aspirus, Ault said.

The incident remains under investigation but no charges or citations are expected, Ault said. The driver was remorseful but remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Crews from Plover Police Department, the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office, and Plover EMS, all responded to the Copps parking lot, 1850 Plover Rd., at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday after a caller reported the accident.

“This is a tragic accident and our hearts and prayers go out to the entire family,” Ault said.
