Woman attacked on Portage St., police say

Metro Wire Staff

Stevens Point police say a woman was attacked on Portage St. early Monday, and they’re asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect.

Assistant Police Chief Tom Zenner said the woman, 22, was exiting her residence on the 1000 block of Portage St. at about 12:35 a.m. on Sept. 30 when she was approached by an unknown man as she walked to her vehicle.

A brief altercation ensued, and the woman received multiple scratches to the left side of her torso and a cut to her shirt by an unknown object the man was reportedly holding, Zenner said.

The woman punched the man on the left side of the face with a closed fist, then the man fled on foot, eastbound on Portage St.

The woman did not require an ambulance, Zenner said.

The suspect is described as a white male with facial hair, “taller” in height, with an average build. He was wearing a dark, long-sleeved shirt at the time of the attack.

Anyone with information should call the Stevens Point Police Department at (715) 346-1500.
