WisDOT construction updates, week of April 6

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) provides weekly road construction updates for the several counties in Northcentral Wisconsin.

Marquette County

Highway: WIS 23 (carryover project)
Location: City of Montello, Morningside Court to West Street
Schedule: April 2019 to June 26, 2020
Traffic Impacts: WIS 23 will remain open to the public with occasional flagging operations expected.
Anticipated work scheduled for next week: Weather permitting, crews are tentatively scheduled to make concrete repairs to the sidewalk between Park Street and West Street.

Portage County

Highway: I-39, north and southbound
Location: North 2nd Street to County X
Schedule: Anticipated start date is April 13, 2020 with a completion date of July 17, 2020.
Description: This is a pavement replacement. Crews will conduct patch work on the southbound lanes of I-39, followed by removal of the existing asphalt on both north and southbound lanes. Crews will then apply a new layer of asphalt on all lanes within the limits.
Traffic Impacts: Construction will be performed under lane closures. Motorists should watch for message boards indicating lane closures and are reminded to move over and slow down in work zones.
Anticipated work scheduled for next week: Message boards will be installed notifying motorists of upcoming work. Crews will be in the area completing staking to map out the project for construction.

Price County
Highway: US 8
Location: US 8, bridges over Hay Creek, Wisconsin Central Limited Railroad, and South Fork Jump River
Schedule: February 17, 2020 to August 28, 2020
Traffic Impacts: Motorists will encounter one lane of traffic on US 8 between County A and Cemetery Road, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals. Width restrictions will be in effect for the duration of the project, signed for 11-foot max-width. Crews will be working behind the temporary barrier block on the westbound lanes in stage one of the project.
Anticipated work scheduled for next week: Crews will continue working on the bridge deck over the railroad. A second bridge crew will continue placing diaphragms and start work on the bridge over the East Fork of the Jump River. Crews will also place silt fence, remove guard rail and start clearing vegetation.

Waupaca County
Highway: US 10
Location: US 10 eastbound over Waupaca County E bridge
Schedule: September 2019 to August 2020
Traffic Impacts: US 10 Westbound will remain open to two, 11-foot lanes of traffic until May 23, 2020. US 10 eastbound will remain open to one lane of traffic with a maximum width of 13-feet until May 23, 2020. County E below US 10 will be closed during construction. It is anticipated to reopen by August 14, 2020.
Anticipated work scheduled for next week: Crews will remove the existing US 10 eastbound bridge over County E and start constructing the new bridge. Crews will also install storm sewer east of the new structure.
