TOWN OF GRANT— Authorities have identified the man killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash last week in the Town of Grant as Stephan Hill, 18, of Wisconsin Rapids.

Hill was pronounced dead at the scene of the July 5 crash, which occurred shortly after 1 a.m. on Evergreen Avenue west of 110th Street, according to an updated news release Friday from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say a pickup truck carrying four people was traveling eastbound in a reckless manner when it lost control, struck an embankment, and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its roof. Hill, the front-seat passenger, and the 17-year-old driver were both partially ejected. The driver, also from Wisconsin Rapids, was airlifted to Marshfield Hospital by Life Link helicopter.

Two passengers in the back seat—a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female, both from Wisconsin Rapids—were uninjured.

Emergency responders included United Ambulance, fire departments from Plainfield and Grand Rapids, Grant EMR, Life Link, and the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Wisconsin State Patrol conducted a technical crash reconstruction.

The crash remains under investigation.
