Winifred “Fritzie” Marquard, 92

Winifred “Fritzie” Marquard, age 92, of Stevens Point, died September 26, 2018, at Ascension St. Michaels Hospital.

She was born on December 23, 1925, in Amherst. Her father, Walter and, grandmother, Bertha Rickman raised her. She attended the local Amherst Junction area schools.

She married Vincent Marquard. He preceded her in death in 1970. She stayed at home raising her two sons until the death of Vincent when she then worked various jobs.

Fritzie was a longtime resident of Stevens Point and was a compelling volunteer for various organizations throughout Portage County. Her dedication to volunteering inspired the creation of the Fritzie Marquard Volunteer of the Year Award through the United Way of Portage County.

In retirement, she spent many years stuffing envelopes. She had a pure fondness for her neighbor’s dog named Riley.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth, and Dennis (Kathy); grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Crystal, Nickolas, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Christian, Caitlyn, Malcolm Jr., Samantha, Eva, Donald, Christopher Jr., Nickolas Jr., Anna and Cole; and one great-grandchild, Wyatt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vincent; brother, Lawrence; and grandson, Benjamin.

A private funeral service and burial in Forest Cemetery were held.
