Willie “Will” Washington Jr, 47

Willie “Will” Washington, Jr., age 47, of Stevens Point, passed away on January 11, 2023.

Will was born on September 11, 1975, to Willie Washington, Sr., and Yvonne (née Washington) Jones in Chicago. He attended local schools until the age of 14 when he, his mother, brother, and sister moved to Madison. While in Madison he attended East High and worked various jobs while living in the area. Around 2004, Will relocated to Stevens Point. While there, he worked at Point Lube, KI Mobility, and Linetech. He was most recently at Furniture and Appliance Mart.

Will had a deep love for sports; and, although he resided in Wisconsin, his loyalty to the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs held strong. Not only did he enjoy watching sports, but he loved playing, too; especially basketball and softball. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, showing off what he was currently up to, and enjoying backyard BBQs with loud music and those he loved. Above all, spending time with his kids and family was most important; taking trips back to Chicago often for family visits.

Will was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne; his brother, James Jones; maternal grandmother, Charlie Mae Cage; maternal grandfather, Arthur Cage; paternal grandmother, Ernestine Washington; and paternal grandfather, Robert Lee Ewing.

Will is survived by his father, Willie Sr., fiance, Ashley Bleuer and five children, Maher (Spencer Kok) Hakim, Taijah (Ryan Wakeman) Washington, Willie Lee “Lil Will” Washington, III, Kaelyn Bleuer, and Kamden Washington; and grandchildren, Treysinn Trainor, and Brooks Wakeman. He is further survived by two sisters, Nina (John) Solomon and Ashley (Joshua) Washington. He was a loving uncle to his niece Shanice, his nephews Leon and Davon, great nieces Nariyah and Jamiyah, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date in Will’s name.

The family would like to thank the staff at UW-Madison for his cancer treatment and Promedica Hospice for the care given to Will.

A service to honor Will’s memory will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 12 p.m. at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 2400 Plover Rd., Plover. Friends and family are invited to gather to share memories on Saturday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
