What a bust: trio arrested after daytime porn store burglary

Stevens Point police say they’ve arrested three people on multiple charges following a daytime burglary at Eldorado’s Adult Party Store on April 20.

Charges of felonious burglary/party to the crime and retail theft are pending against April A. Beaudry, 29, of Bancroft, and Stevens Point residents Mercie M. Grochowski, 43, and 26-year-old Matthew M. Dentice.

Police were called to 3219 Church St. at 10:42 a.m. by the store’s owner, who observed three people with flashlights inside the business on a live-streaming security video he watched from a remote location.

“The store didn’t open until noon,” said Assistant Police Chief Mike Rottier, “and obviously, when you’re in a place of business in the dark, walking around with a flashlight, that’s suspicious and unusual.”

Rottier said the trio took retail merchandise from the store, but did not elaborate.

At least one of the suspects is believed to be employed at the store, Rottier said, and helped the other two suspects gain access prior to the start of their shift, but added the investigation was still ongoing and he wasn’t able to release all the details of the alleged crime.

“We believe all three are equally involved,” he said.

Court dates for Beaudry, Grochowski and Dentice were not immediately scheduled.
