The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in last week’s bicycle-versus-vehicle collision in Carson.
Dispatchers received the 911 call at 7:55 p.m. on March 25 when a bicyclist, 60-year-old Andrew Frost of Linwood, collided with a 2000 Chrysler Concord, a four-door sedan, at County Hwy. HH West and County Hwy. E near Dewendy’s Pub.
Frost became embedded in the window of the Chrysler and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Portage Co. Medical Examiner.
According to Deputy Sheriff Benjamin Beaudoin, Frost was attempting to cross County Trunk HH West and failed to yield for the eastbound Chrysler.
The motorist was 67-year-old Dana Dresden of Stevens Point, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was not injured.
Along with Portage County deputies, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Portage County Ambulance, Rudolph Fire/Rescue, Rudolph Emergency Medical Responders, Portage County Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Team from the Plover Fire Department, Portage County Highway Department, and Portage County Medical Examiner all responded to the scene. Spirit Medical Transport was also alerted but the helicopter was ultimately canceled.
