UWSP to mark 50th anniversary of moon landing

UW-Stevens Point will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the moon at a special planetarium and telescope viewing event next month.
The 7 p.m. program will be held Tuesday, July 9, at the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium highlighting the Apollo 11 moon landing of astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins.
At 9 p.m., the Science Building roof will be open for telescopic observations of the moon until 11 p.m., weather permitting.
There is no charge to attend and the program is open to the public.
The planetarium is located on the second floor of the UW-Stevens Point Science Building at 2001 Fourth Ave., Stevens Point. Parking is available in Lot D behind the building and is free in all university lots after 7 p.m. and on weekends.
