STEVENS POINT – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will host a free community event on Friday, May 9, to celebrate the end of the academic year and the 75th anniversary of its first Student Union.

The “Point in Time Festival” will run from 6 to 10 p.m. between the Dreyfus University Center and Old Main on Reserve Street. The event is open to the public and will feature live music, food, bounce houses and student-run carnival games.

Performers will include Wisconsin-based bands Tae and the Neighborly, Chicken Wire Empire, and Sheebie and the Lovemakers.

Michelle Miller, associate director for programs in the UWSP University Centers, said the event revives a tradition formerly known as Copper Fountain Fest.

“The Point in Time Festival is a reimagination of an event we held in the past,” Miller said. “I’m excited that we’re bringing something like that back for our students and community.”

Miller added that the event is a fitting way to celebrate the academic year’s close.

“Campus Activities and Student Engagement wants to provide fun and engaging opportunities,” she said. “That’s why we do what we do.”
