UWSP seeks public input on strategic plan

By Patrick Lynn

UW-Stevens Point is developing a new five-year strategic plan—and this time around, the public is invited to participate in the planning process.

The strategic plan will update the university’s long-range vision with new information on enrollment trends, demographics, and other information. Public participation is welcome in person or via a written survey.

“As we begin a new decade, we are committed to shaping our regional university in a way that continues to benefit our students and our community,” Chancellor Bernie Patterson said in a press release this week. “We welcome input from the community in this process.”

The planning process is being led by a committee of faculty, staff members, and student representation. A piece of the early planning process is outlining the university’s strengths and opportunities.

Participation from graduates, local business owners, organizations that work with or for students, or the general public, is encouraged, the press release said.

Community members may attend any of the visioning sessions that will be held the week of Feb. 10 on UWSP campuses in Stevens Point, Wausau, and Marshfield. Public sessions will be held at various times Feb. 10-13. Specific times and details can be found here.

Surveys can also be filled out online for those who cannot attend in person. Surveys must be submitted by Feb. 10.
