UWSP schedules virtual listening sessions for new chancellor search

Metro Wire Staff

Virtual listening sessions will be held this month to gather feedback on attributes and expectations for the next chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The hour-long listening sessions are scheduled Tuesday, April 7, at 8:30, 9:40 and 10:50 a.m. and at 1:30 and 2:40 p.m.

The meetings will be hosted by the UW-Stevens Point Chancellor Search and Screen Committee, and open to faculty, staff, and students from all three UW-Stevens Point campuses and to interested community members.

Chancellor Bernie Patterson, who has served UW-Stevens Point since 2010, announced in March that he will retire at the end of this year.

Further details and information on how to join a session will be available April 6 at www.uwsp.edu/chancellor-search/Pages/default.aspx. This website will provide additional information about the chancellor search process.

Also on this website will be an online form for community members to provide input on priorities for the university’s 15th chancellor. This form will be available through April 13.

“Please take advantage of this opportunity to help shape the future of UW-Stevens Point,” said Mary Bowman, UW-Stevens Point English professor and Common Council president. She is the vice-chair of the search committee, chaired by Karen Walsh, a member of the UW System Board of Regents.

“As we continue developing a new strategic plan in the months ahead, our new chancellor will play a pivotal role in implementing it,” she said.
