UWSP partners w/ Fox Valley Tech for design degree

Students earning an associate degree in interior design at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton will now find it easier to earn a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture at UWSP.

A program-to-program agreement provides smooth credit transfers from FVTC to UW-Stevens Point. Students earning Associate of Applied Science degrees in interior design and/or kitchen and bath design may then continue at UW-Stevens Point to earn a professionally accredited Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in interior architecture.

“This is an important relationship for us and an ideal pipeline for students,” said Aaron Kadoch, head of the UW-Stevens Point Division of Interior Architecture. The partnership resulted from a process begun by Associate Professor Katja Marquart five years ago.

“We are thrilled about the partnership with the UW-Stevens Point interior architecture program,” said Kris Hackl, chair of the FVTC Interior Design Department. “Fox Valley Tech students wishing to obtain a bachelor’s degree now have an affordable option that is relatively close to home. The IA program at UW-Stevens Point has always had a great reputation. It’s a win-win arrangement for both schools, students, and the industry.”

Kimberly Kamke, an FVTC interior design student, is looking forward to attending UW-Stevens Point after earning two associate degrees.

“The ability to have degrees in both kitchen and bath design and interior design prior to attending a traditional four-year college allows me to gain industry work experience while still furthering my education,” she said.

Prior to enrollment to UW-Stevens Point, students enrolled at FVTC are encouraged to consult with the university’s academic advisers to create an academic transfer plan. To learn more, contact Kadoch at [email protected].

UW-Stevens Point’s program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The FVTC Kitchen and Bath program is accredited by the National Kitchen and Bath Association.
