Learn the basics of cross-country skiing while enjoying the winter beauty of the Northwoods this January at Treehaven, a field station of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The New Year’s Ski event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at Treehaven, located at W2540 Pickerel Creek Road in Tomahawk.

Instructors will teach participants the basics of starting, stopping, turning and gliding across the snow on cross-country skis. Afterward, visitors can enjoy Treehaven’s groomed ski trails, followed by a fire and hot chocolate.

The event is limited to 30 participants, age 12 and up. The cost is $5 with your own skis or $10 to rent skis on-site. Registration is required by Friday, Dec. 27, by going online to www.uwsp.edu/treehaven (click on Public Programs). For more information, call 715-453-4106 or email [email protected].
