UTV crash kills 82-year-old Lanark man in Portage County

NEW HOPE, Wis. — An 82-year-old man from the Town of Lanark was killed Monday morning in a crash involving a UTV and a dump truck.

Deputies from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene at about 8:44 a.m. on July 21. The crash occurred near the intersection of County Trunk Highway ZZ and Rainbows End Road in the Township of New Hope.

According to Sheriff Mike Lukas, the man was operating a UTV when it collided with a dump truck. He died from injuries sustained in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

Emergency crews from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Portage County Ambulance, the  Amherst Fire Department, and the Iola Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further information is being released at this time.
