UPDATE: Victim in single-vehicle Almond crash ID’d

TOWN OF ALMOND – A 77-year-old Almond man died Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at about 2:52 p.m. April 16 on County Highway W, west of County Highway BB. The initial investigation showed a sedan traveling eastbound crossed the center line, entered the north ditch, and struck a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Eldon Pearson of Almond, died at the scene.

Emergency crews from Plover Ambulance, Almond Rescue, Almond EMR, Bancroft Rescue, Bancroft EMR, and the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
