UPDATE: Roads reopen after flooding—for now

Metro Wire Staff

Stevens Point police have reopened major roadways across the city after closing them temporarily due to flooding on Tuesday.

Underpasses at Bus. 51 and Michigan Ave., and Water St. at the Stevens Point Brewery, were all impassable after heavy rain caused flooding in the city. Several side streets, including Bush and Frontenac, were also flooded.

Motorists who need to travel north/south were being directed to use Country Club Dr. or Brilowski Rd.

Police Chief Tom Zenner said road barriers will remain close to all three roadways, as they’ll likely need to reclose the roads in case more rain hits the area.
