United Way announces new early learning coordinator

The United Way of Portage County has announced it has hired Abi Solin as its Early Learning Coordinator.

In her new role, Solin will coordinate the Learn for Life literacy program and serve as backbone support to the Born Learning Collective Impact Initiative which focuses on closing the academic achievement gap and having children safe and ready for kindergarten in Portage Co.

Solin attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Communication Disorders and the UW-Stevens Point where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Before joining United Way of Portage County, Solin worked as a program assistant with the special needs unit, specifically the Birth to 3 Program, for Portage Co. Health and Human Services. She previously worked as a speech and language pathologist in the State of Oregon.

Solin has lived in the area for nearly two decades. She and her husband, Jeremy, have three children.
