Two local businesses earn ‘Coolest Thing in Wisconsin’ nomination

Voting for the 7th annual Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin Contest is now open.

Two companies from Portage Co. are among the 125 nominees. Sunset Point Winery, 1201 Water St. in Stevens Point, was nominated for its new wine pouches.

The winery debuted its collapsable pouches earlier this year. Winery co-owner Kathy Johnson they make wine easier to transport for customers taking advantage of the downtown’s open intoxicant area near the public square.

Feltz’s Dairy Store, 5796 Porter Dr. in Plover, was also nominated for the company’s handmade cheese curds.

The contest is sponsored annually by the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and is comprised of a tournament-style bracket known as Manufacturing Madness.

The top 16 products from the first round of over 100 nominees will go on to compete in head-to-head matchups in the coming weeks.

The first round of voting ends at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
